Last year I had the opportunity to interview Gavin MacLeod on my radio show. I almost didn't ask him to be on my show, because generally I don't pursue A list guests like him and I also try to steer away from well known celebrity Christians because I know that people often seem to care more about the celebrity than actually the discussion we have about the Lord.
After some hesitancy, I did invite Gavin on the show and he graciously accepted. I was glad that he did because as you will hear, when you listen to the show, he was all about sharing the gospel. In fact, he was on because of his book This is Your Captain Speaking and honestly, he talked more about his favorite movie that he wants to be remembered for, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry, than he did his actual book.
During the interview Gavin shared about meeting Ronald Reagan, as well as other celebrities, but what I found most touching was when he told us that he would love for us to pray for his wife, who has struggled with depression for the last 6-7 years. He was also scheduled for a 30 minute interview and ended up staying with us for a full hour.
I wholeheartedly believe that Gavin knows the Lord and as you will hear, he had an opportunity to share that with a veteran who called into the show, who did not know Christ. Take a listen and then leave your feedback.
